In a commitment to preserving culture and enhancing the well-being of its citizens, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through the Provincial Population Office (PPO), launched a local initiative aimed at strengthening the advocacy for responsible parenthood and family planning. This initiative, which celebrates extraordinary families as role models, culminates in the annual awards for “The Most Outstanding Model Family” in the province.
This year’s ceremony, held on November 7, 2024, at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center, marked the 30th anniversary of the awards. Under the theme “Pamilyang Planado, Angat sa South Cotabato,” the event highlighted families who exemplify strong values, resilience, and outstanding life skills, encouraging others in the community to follow their example.
From a humble beginning as a tricycle driver and vendor, Mr. Emmanuel and Mrs. Evelyn Zaulda from the Municipality of Tupi were honored as South Cotabato’s 2024 Most Outstanding Model Family. Through hard work, they grew a small business into EEH Hardware Store and Kirby Construction Supplies, and have become celebrated role models in their community. Known for their generosity and commitment to their faith, they established the SDA Elementary School as a lasting legacy. Their dedication and integrity have also earned them the title of Most Outstanding Taxpayer from 2018 to 2020.
The Zaulda family received a trophy and a cash prize of PHP 50,000 in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the community. Additional honorees included Mr. Dionisio and Mrs. Emilia Genit of Norala, who took third place, and Mr. Rogelio Jr. and Mrs. Lourdes Besana of Polomolok, who received the second-place award. Mr. Rene and Mrs. Morcisa and Family from the Municipality of Tampakan also won an award for the Most Like and Viewed Family Video.
As the program enters its third decade, the Provincial Government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening family values and encouraging a better quality of life for its citizens through initiatives like these that inspire and uplift communities.
