Provincial Government Turns Over a Multi-purpose Drying Pavement (MPDP) for Farmers of Surallah

Koronadal City, South Cotabato — The South Cotabato Provincial Agriculture Office officially handed over a Multi-purpose Drying Pavement (MPDP) to the Canahay Integrated Farmer’s Association in Sitio Lake Nongon, Barangay Canahay, Surallah, on January 6, 2025. The province allocated a budget of ₱829,375 through 20% of the Province’s Local Development Fund.

Engr. Joane Batobalani, the Supervising Administrative Officer of OPAg, expressed gratitude to the association for providing the space for the drying pavement. She emphasized the importance of taking care of the project, as it will support the future activities of the cooperative.

The MPDP will benefit 75 members of the association. According to the farmers, this project will help them dry their products, such as coconuts, corn, and rice.

“Thank you so much to the Provincial Government of South Cotabato for constructing the MPDP, especially for us farmers. This facility is very helpful as it allows us to dry our products in a spacious area without worrying about floods,” said one of the farmers.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr.’s administration assures that this initiative will make it easier for farmers to dry their products before selling them in the market, thereby reducing their hardships.

“We will provide whatever support we can for South Cotabato, and I encourage everyone to voice any concerns so we can address them and find solutions,” the governor stated in a recent interview.
