Auction sale of all delinquent real properties will not push through this year, the Office of the Provincial Treasurer disclosed.
Provincial Treasurer Alvim Batol said the postponement of the auction sale was due to the continued occurrence of the covid-19 pandemic.
“Preparations are underway since last year but due to the pandemic, we opt to postpone it next year,” Batol said,
He added, to ease the burden of taxpayers, the PTO implemented the condonation of real tax properties instead.
“This is going to be a big relief to our taxpayers since they will no longer pay for the surcharges.” He said,
The move is also one of the strategies of the province to generate additional revenues and update the records of the properties.
Batol said the last auction sale was held on November 26-27, 2019, at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court wherein a total of 620 delinquent real properties in the province worth Php33.3 million were set for auction.
he added, prior to the last auction sale in 2019, the province conducted the same activity 11 years ago.
“The conduct of the auction sale is wrong timing if we do it this year, if things get normal, we will do it next year,” Batol said,
