Reg’l Peace and Order Council endorses LCEs to chair body

City of Koronadal – The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) 12 passed a resolution requesting the Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to appoint a Chairperson from among the Governors and City Mayors who are members of the body.

 

The resolution was passed during first organizational meeting of RPOC 12 held recently at The Farm, Carpenter Hill, this city., and presided over  by Board Member Agustin Dema-ala, representing Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes.

 

Also included in the resolution is the request for the appointment of concurrent Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 12, Police Chief Superintendent Lester Camba, as its Vice-Chair.

 

RPOC is the highest peace and security body in the region and composed of national line agencies, local government units and military units and Presidential Management Staff stationed in each region.

 

Earlier, DILG 12 Regional Director Reynaldo Bungubung disclosed that at present, RPOC12 is the only council in the country that has no appointed Chair and Co-Chair.

 

Through unanimous consensus among the members present, the body passed said resolution addressed to the DILG Secretary for proper and immediate action.

 

Meanwhile, the body created the Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) of the PAMANA project, a peace and development program of the Office of the Presidential Assistant on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

 

Elected Chair is the DILG Regional Director while the members were Regional Directors of DPWH, DENR, DA, DTI and PIA, and commanders of military units and regional director of the PNP within the region.

 

The body also heard during its meeting presentations of the police and military on the current Peace and Order sStatus of the region. Target Hardening Program and Tri-Boundary Conflict affecting Columbio, Sultan Kudarat, Tulunan, North Cotabato and Datu Paglas, Maguindanao.
