The South Cotabato Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) successfully conducted the three-day provincial-wide youth camp held at Kablon National High School in Barangay Kablon, Tupi, South Cotabato, from August 19-21, 2023.
A total of 225 youth coming from 15 different youth serving organizations coming from different municipalities in the province participated in the 3-day provincial camp.
South Cotabato Provincial Youth Development III Officer, Ms. Jobeelyn Baitus Corilla, MPA, shared that one of the major goals of this camp is to promote unity and strengthen the relationships between various youth-serving organization in the province.
“Ang camp ang isa sa pinakadako nga aktibidades sang opisina… nga kung diin gina-showcase ta ang kultura kag talents sang aton kabataan… Dugang pa sa paagi sini mas makita ta pag ugyon sang aton nagkalain-lain nga mga youth organizations diri sa probinsya” – Ms. Corilla said in an interview.
The provincial camp was celebrated pursuant to section 30 of Republic Act No. 10742 mandating every barangay, municipality, city and province to conduct an annual activity to be known as the Linggo ng Kabataan every 2nd week of August.
The PYDO laid various activities for the three-day celebration anchored on the nine centers of youth participation, ranging from Inter-cultural night presentations, the search for Mr. and Ms. South Cotabato Youth, to educational seminars led by partner organizations.
Furthermore, aside from various socio-cultural activities, the PYDO also partnered with TESDA South Cotabato, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Incorporated Trainers of Silway 8 in giving educational lectures and seminars to the participants of the camp.
The provincial youth camp is in coordination with various local youth development offices of the ten municipalities and one city in the province of South Cotabato. The PYDO plans to hold the 2024 provincial youth camp somewhere in the 2nd District of South Cotabato.
The newly-formed office plans to continue organizing youth activities for the youth constituents of South Cotabato in aims of promoting active youth participation in their respective communities ensuring the South Cotabato youth to be “Angat sa Lahat”.
