South Cotabato, Philippines – The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, in partnership with the Provincial Engineers’ Office, has officially commenced the construction of a new covered court at the Provincial Nursery and Demonstration Farm in Barangay Reyes, Banga.
This facility, with an allocated budget of ₱4,999,993.08 from 20% of the 2025 Local Development Fund, is designed to support the province’s agricultural and fishing communities. The covered court will provide a spacious and conducive space for activities and events such as Farmers Field Day, Farm Walks, 4H youth programs, etc.
“It will also host training sessions and community meetings, ensuring activities can continue uninterrupted despite weather challenges,” Engr. Joan Batobalani, Supervising Agriculturist, emphasized the vital role of the building in local agricultural activities.
“This covered court will serve as a key venue for important events, helping us carry on our work effectively while ensuring safety and comfort for everyone,” Batobalani said.
The facility will promote greater engagement and collaboration among local farmers, fishers, and community members. By offering a space for knowledge exchange, the covered court will help strengthen sustainable farming practices and foster local economic growth.
This project is part of the provincial government’s broader vision, under the administration of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., to enhance South Cotabato’s agricultural infrastructure.
It aims to provide essential resources for the farming community, ensuring they are equipped to meet the challenges of modern agriculture and strengthen ties within the province.
