The Provincial Government of South Cotabato received positive comments during the virtual 71st Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology National Convention earlier this day.
Reactors from private sector and business lauded Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. when he presented the numerous digital innovations he pushed for public governance.
One reactor, Ray Chua, a representative of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce congratulated the governor for injecting information technology as a sustainable innovation.
“South Cotabato is very inspiring. The road to development and sustainability is not an easy task.”
Chua said Gov. Tamayo has amazing achievements.
“He has done invisible works to many, but necessary for development,” he said.
In a video presentation, the province showed digital transformations like local network area, computerized bidding process and real property tax administration, personnel selection and performance program, and award system.
The governor, an IT expert, prioritized the enhancement of payroll, the human resource information system, and the queuing system of the provincial hospital. He also approved the development of a document tracking system and installation and configuration of a new PABX system.
He instructed the local IT experts of the Provincial Capitol to purchase backup security IT equipment for disaster recovery, modernize the Provincial Government e-financial system, and subscribe to software licenses for application development.
“Let us integrate internet connectivity to have sophisticated and dedicated internet service for the province,” he said in the video presentation.
In a separate interview, IT Division Chief Mark Dela Cruz proposed for P8M to perform the intra-net connectivity. Dela Cruz pushed for the completion until 2025.
“We are here to do the task the best we can on time,” he said when asked about their accomplishment on time.
Dela Cruz worked in an IT company in Singapore prior to his government stint in the Provincial Government of South Cotabato.
