South Cotabato Government Launches Project SAFE to Strengthen Disaster Response

NORALA, SOUTH COTABATO – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, has launched an innovative disaster response initiative called Project SAFE (Supplementary Assistance of Food Extended) as part of its comprehensive CATCH-UP Program (Convergence Approach for Transformation and Change-Unification Program). The inaugural distribution event took place yesterday, December 5, 2024, at Barangay Puti, Norala, where 110 households from Sitio Lambusong received essential Nutri-Packages. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the province’s commitment to disaster resilience and community welfare.

Project SAFE represents a strategic response to address immediate nutritional needs in disaster-affected areas. The program is designed to ensure that vulnerable communities maintain access to essential nutrients during critical periods following natural disasters or other emergencies.

Project SAFE demonstrates our commitment to providing immediate, meaningful support to affected families while ensuring their nutritional needs are met during these challenging times.

The Nutri-Packages distributed contain:
– Essential food items selected for their nutritional value

– Shelf-stable products suitable for emergency situations

– Supplies designed to support families during the recovery period

The CATCH-UP Program, under which Project SAFE operates, exemplifies the provincial government’s integrated approach to community development and disaster response. This convergence strategy ensures that various government agencies and stakeholders work together seamlessly to deliver effective assistance to affected communities. Provincial government have emphasized that Project SAFE will be implemented across other vulnerable areas of South Cotabato.
