“Pag-amuma sa GIDA” has brought the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through the Provincial Population Office (PPO), to some of the most remote sitios in Barangay Salacafe, Tboli. After a journey of four to six hours on foot, the team reached Sitio Syombolol, Sitio Tahikong, and Sitio Blo, delivering crucial services to these underserved communities.
These remote areas, with a combined population of approximately 500 residents, benefited from various educational and health programs. The services included orientation on Republic Act 11596 (Anti-Child Marriage Law), life skills training for adolescents, responsible parenthood and family planning sessions, and health and safety information on violence against women and children.
The event was well-attended by sitio leaders, parents, and youth, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and education. The initiative highlights the Provincial Government’s commitment to reaching geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA), ensuring that essential services are accessible to all residents.
The PPO was supported by the Special Forces of the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police, the Municipal Health Office of Tboli, the Barangay Local Government Unit of Salacafe, and the Tribal Leaders Development Foundation Incorporated. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of multi-sectoral partnerships in delivering comprehensive services to remote communities.
By bringing these vital programs directly to the people, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato aims to empower residents with the knowledge and resources needed to improve their quality of life, fostering a healthier, more informed community.
