The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through the South Cotabato Economic and Investment Promotion Center, receives the 9th Most Competitive Province in the 9th Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Award during the Treasures of Region 12 Trade Expo conducted in General Santos City.
As CMCI constantly evolves to be a timely and relevant indicator of local competitiveness, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo Sucayan Tamayo Jr. continues to overcome new challenges in governance by instituting dynamic policies and through strategic government spending which ensures the development of all aspects of society.
CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development. It has allowed for the standardization of the system of compiling local indicators nationwide, enabling LGUs to assess their relative level of competitiveness and derive insights for their local policymaking and planning. Through the insights derived from the CMCI Data Analytics Platform, the local government units can formulate concrete plans and programs to strengthen their competitiveness and promote local communities as viable investment destinations for new and existing investors.
