South Cotabato undergoes national validation for ‘Seal of Good Local Governance

KORONADAL CITY, PHILIPPINES – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato recently underwent the National Validation for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) last September 19.

Spearheaded by the Provincial Planning and Development Office, the validation process was conducted by two national validators from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Central Office.

The extensive validation involved interviews and site visits with the department heads of various offices, agency leaders, and focal persons responsible for multiple programs and services provided by the provincial government.

Key areas evaluated during the validation included disaster preparedness, financial administration, business friendliness, youth development, health compliance and responsiveness, sustainable education, social protection and sensitivity, peace and order, and environmental management.

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. lauded the employees’ efforts, emphasizing that the services South Cotabato provides are made possible through the collective hard work of its personnel.

“…Lagi kong sinasabi kapag mayroong evaluation – na hindi natin goal ang makipag-compete. Ang goal ay malampasan yung nagging previous performance at mas mapaganda ang delivery of services sa mga tao – at iyan ay posible dahil sa pagtutulongan niyong lahat [employees] dito sa probinsya…” – Governor Tamayo Jr. said in his message.

Furthermore, the governor highlighted the importance of cooperation in delivering efficient and effective services to the people of South Cotabato through the “Tama at Maayos” brand of service.

The results of the validation will be submitted to the Good Local Governance Council for further deliberation. It is worth noting that in 2023, South Cotabato was recognized as a Seal of Good Local Governance awardee.
