South Cotabato Youth Showcase Talent and Knowledge in Provincial Population Quiz Show

The Provincial Population Education Quiz Show, themed “Kabataang South Cotabateño: Angat sa Talino at Talento”, featured 57 schools from ten municipalities and one component city in South Cotabato. During the event, Ms. Melanie C. Chiva, the Provincial Population Officer, emphasized the importance of comprehensive reproductive health and sexuality education in reducing poverty and early parenthood, particularly in underserved communities.

She stated, “Comprehensive reproductive and sexuality education equips young people to overcome challenges, achieve their dreams, and address issues such as early pregnancy and poverty.”

After a day of intense competition, Jude Noah T. Borcillo of Banga National High School emerged victorious. Joehanna Bernhice Aritalia of Libertad National High School, who took first place, was not far behind. After a thrilling cinch round that ended in a tie with another competitor, Mary Jacyll Gamotia of Tupi National High School took second place.

The winners were presented with medals, certificates, and cash prizes. The winner received Php 5,500, while the coach received Php 2,200. The winner received Php 4,500, while the coach was awarded Php 1,800. The second-place finisher received Php 3,500, and their coach received Php 1,600. All non-winning contestants received consolation prizes of Php 700, recognizing everyone’s efforts and participation.

Jude Noah T. Borcillo will represent South Cotabato at the Regional Festival of Talents on February 18, 2025, in M’lang, Cotabato. This accomplishment demonstrates the dedication and brilliance of South Cotabato’s youth, as well as the effectiveness of initiatives like the AHD Program in promoting their development.
