SouthCot farmers receive Php6.39 million post harvest facilities,livelihood assistance

The Provincial Government of South Cotabato received a total of Php6.39 million worth of  post-harvest facilities and machinery from the  Department of Agriculture RFU-12 which aims to increase the productivity of rice farmers, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist reports.

During the Monday Flag Raising ceremony held early this week, the OPAG listed the following farming facilities given by DA-12 to ensure faster and cost-efficient rice farming activities of farmers.

  1. Ten (10) units Hand Tractor -Php1,350,000.00
    2. Ten (10) units Rice Thresher – Php1,285,000.00
    3. Twenty (20) units Seed Spreader – Php 1,436,200.00
    4. Four (4) units Shallow Tube-well -Php 419,864.00
    5. Ten (10) units Rice Transplanter – Php 1,900,000.00

Total Project Cost Php6,391,060

Aside from these facilities, selected Municipal Agriculture Office in the province also received the following:

OMAG Tampakan-  2 units UV sheet a and 1 stripping machine

OMAG Tupi- (2 units UV sheet)

OCAG Koronadal City – 20 bags flower inducer and 1 mini chainsaw

OMAG Norala – 25 bags flower inducer

Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Raul D. Teves said these are just partial provisions.

During said activity, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo also led the turn-over of checks worth Php15,000 each to the beneficiaries of the ng Rural Based Organizations (RBOs) which will be used for goat raising project.

The beneficiaries are Reyes Rural Improvement Club (RIC) of  Banga represented by Ms. Regie Balbalosa with  Provincial RIC President Ms. Marilou Delos Santos and Municipal RIC Coordinator Binibining Rhea Mariconn Jagorin, and Kipalbig 4H Club of Tampakan represented by Ms. Gee Lysa Kaye Vilbar with  Municipal Coordinator  Ms. Maria Pura Tomaro.

The project aims to give not only additional knowledge on goat raising to the beneficiaries but also additional income to them.
