South Cotabato, Philippines — Governor Hon. Reynaldo S. Tamayo welcomed the participants of the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association meet during yesterday’s opening ceremony at the South Cotabato Sports Complex.
At least 7,000 student-athletes, coaches and chaperones from various regional divisions attended the event.
Governor Tamayo emphasized, “Ngayong linggo ay macocompete kayo, magpapaligsahan kayo, magpapakita kayo na talento , yung galing meron kayo. Pero huwag ninyo kakalimutan na sa dulo ng kumpetisyong ito ay magkakaroon tayo ng isang kuponan – kuponan ng SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletics Association.”
The governor inspired student-athletes and he reminded them of their abilities, determination, and sportsmanship.
“This will be a competing week, but in the end, we will be as one. We will fly as one and claim our place as one of the strongest teams in the Philippines. Angat sa buong Pilipinas!”
The Provincial Government of South Cotabato co-hosted the SRAA meet in the City of Koronadal. The province rehabilitated the rubberized track oval of the sports complex so that the athletes experienced an international standard. (with reports from Albert Sionosa)
