Sto. Nino NHS, Polomolok CES SWM Model Schools “grand slam winners”

They finally made it!

Sto. Nino National High School and Polomolok Central Elementary School made a “grand slam” after winning this year’s province-wide Search for Model Schools In Solid Waste Management Implementation in the high school and elementary categories, respectively.

Both schools won the search for two consecutive years, in 2012 and 2013, and true to their promise and commitment enhanced or leveled up their performance this year that got the unanimous approval of the board of evaluators.

The evaluators were composed of Nencita Acain of PEMO, Fruto Sumagaysay Jr. of PIO, Roselyn Dardo of DepED-South Cotabato, Bai Soraya Meditar of DENR-EMB 12, Hayd-Ali Suwaib of DILG – South Cotabato and Gemma Guyos of South Cotabato Foundation Inc.

Aside from winning the First Prize, Sto. Nino NHS and Polomolok CES also won Special Awards with a cash prize of P5,000.00 each.

Sto. Nino NHS garnered the Best in Documentation, Best in IEC, Best in Composting and Best in Organic Garden Special Awards.

Polomolok CES meanwhile bagged Special Awards as Best in IEC, Best in Recycling, Best in Composting and, Best in Organic Garden.

Other winners in the high school category were Tampakan National High School which got the 2nd Prize and also Best in Recycling and Best in Community Participation; Polomolok Poblacion National High School (3rd Prize); Cebuano National High School (4th Prize); and, Bukay Pait National High School (5th Prize).

In the elementary category, Koronadal Central Elementary School II took the 2nd Prize and Best in Community Participation; Lugan Central Elementary School (3rd Prize) and Best in Documentation; Sto. Nino Central Elementary School (4th Prize); and, Bunao Elementary School (5th Prize).

The evaluators also voted Cebuano National High School and Lugan Central Elementary School as the Most Improved School in their respective category.

Cash incentives for the Top 5 winners are P30,000.00 (1st Prize); P20,000.00 (2nd Prize); P15,000.00 (3rd Prize); P10,000.00 (4th Prize); and, P8,000.00 (5th Prize).

Non-winners were also given P5,000.00 as consolation prize for meeting the basic requirements in the competition.

Other participating schools in the search were Surallah National High School, Banga National High School, Marbel 7 National High School, Ewards National High School, Sergio Legayada National High School, Centrala Central Elementary School, Bukay Pait Elementary School, Lopez Jaena Elementary School, and Maltana Elementary School.
