The Race to 11 Eco-Challenge, slated this November 11 was formally launched last September 30 during the culmination program of the Provincial Tourism Month held at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultur
An annual program of the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit, the Race to 11 coincided with the Helobung Festival of the municipality of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato’s eco-cultural capital.
Tourism Operations Officer I Francisco Cerbo Jr., ACTM Promotions and Marketing chief formally announced the levent in which an Audio-Visual Presentation followed showing the highlights of the previous eco-challenges.
This year’s eco-challenge is a modified version of the original Race to 7, which refers to the iconic 7 Falls of Lake Sebu. It was renamed Race to 11, since it now involved the participation of the 11 LGUs of the province in the said event.
Participants of the Race to 11 will engage in many activities as part of the contest, starting at their respective LLGU until reaching the finish line at Poblacion, Lake Sebu.
Activities include running, trekking, canoeing, obstacle course, tree-planting, fishing, cooking and other tasks required to be performed by the organizers, and even bead-makiing, as part of immersion in the community. The different performance tasks of the Eco-Challenge will be decided by the Municipal Tourism Officers, according to Cerbo, including the criteria, mechanics and guidelines before the event.
Cash incentives and certificates await winners of the Eco-Challenge.
