ToNHM Update – Tourism Office launches Pamanang South Cotabato Contest

In celebration of the National Heritage Month every year in the month of May, the Arts,  Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit will launch the National Heritage Month Exhibit Display Contest: #Pamanang South Cotabato this coming May 16..

            ACTM Culture & Arts  Coordinator  Tourism Operations Officer II Indira Cagaanan disclosed that the contest focuses on heritage display based from this year’s theme, “Pamanang Binhi ng Kulturang Pilipino,” and open to all Provincial Offices of South Cotabato except ACTM Unit.  

Artifacts and other tangible items that may be put on display, according to the contest guidelines  should be 50 years old and more and must have a short narrative story.

She pointed out that examples of tangible heritage items are: the pots of Tantangan, gongs and tnalak of Lake Sebu, and tabih of Polomolok.

However, Cagaanan added that the display is not only limited to 50-year old artifacts; the office may use various tangible heritage of the communities of South Cotabato, such as objects that are significant to a community that are  related to the culture of the province.

Entries should be put on display starting May 16 until May 26, the date of the  final judging.

Criteria of the contest are Historical Quality (60%), Creativity (20%) and Visual Impact (20%).

Prizes at as take are as follows: First Prize – P5,000, Second Prize – P3,000, Third Prize – P2,999 and 5 Consolation Prizes of P1,000 each that will be awarded on May 30 during the regular Monday Convocation Program at the Capitol Covered Court area.
