CITY OF KORONADAL — The Top 10 finalists of South Cotabato Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Promotions and Development Unit Songwriting Contest was officially announced during the recent weekly Kapihan sa Kapitolyo media forum sponsored by the PGO -Information Division.
Tourism Operations Officer I Argie Ryan Asaria disclosed the much-awaited results to members of the media present as well to the live viewers of the media forum via the Official Facebook Page of the provincial government.
Asaria revealed that the winners were judged last August 19 at the ACTM office, this city, by 5 prestigious judges who are all experts in their respective field in the music industry.
“The contest is one way of reviving tourism in the province through music by highlighting our local composers,” Asaria added.
The contestants uploaded their respective musical composition in a Google Page created by the ACTM IT staff as part of physical/social distancing practice under the “new normal” mode of the country.
The composition title and the composers are as follows: Mocowo Edeni Be South Cotabato – Yzel Duque, Dali Don, Tara Na – Rey Ortilano, Yakap ng South Cotabato – Kearly Joy Victorio / Ela Salada, Sugod Na Sa Sox – Adonis Flores Jr., Wonders of South Cotabato – Ryan Gazo, Dali Na, Biyahe Ta! – Stephen Celestial, Timog Mo, Timog Ko! – Jong Mabayog, It’s More Fun in South Cotabato – Aldrin Mananes, Beauty of the South – KimNathaniel Tan, Let’s Go Sa South – Justin Santiago.
Final judging of the contest will be conducted on September 30 in a private resort here as part of the culmination program of the National Tourism Month celebration where live interpretation of the compositions will be witnessed.
A certain percentage of the criteria will be scored by netizens via the Land of the Dreamweavers Official Facebook Page, while the rest of the criteria will be scored by judges based on Musicality, Style, Interpretation, and Tourism and Cultural Integration.
Prior to the final judging, the top 10 finalists will be radio-hopping among selected radio stations as well as perform live during the regular Monday Convocation Program of different LGUs they will visit for the general public to hear and appreciate their original musical compositions.
