Real Property Tax revenue collection during the first month of implementation of the tax condonation in January has increased by Php2 million with the implementation of tax condonation on real property taxes which will run from January to June 2021.
Based on the actual collection of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO) as of January 2021, the total collection has reached Php17.23 million as against Php15 .18 million for the same period last year.
Provincial treasurer Alvim Batol said, “This is the effect of our tax condonation.”
Although it’s a long way to go to reach their total target income of Php103 million this year, the increase is already a good start as real property owners continued their payment of real property taxes amid the pandemic.
“The unremitted collections are not yet included here, since the provincial share coming from the province’s ten municipalities are set to be collected and remitted by the end of this month of February.” He said,
On the other hand, Batol disclosed that a total of 276 real property owners have paid their rpt taxes at their office amounting to Php6 million.
The collection with amnesty has reached Php11.9 million as of February 15 based on the RPT Summary of Collection provincewide, with the total condoned penalties reached Php7.18 million.
The PTO has strengthened their Information Education and Communication (IEC) campaign to reach out to more real property owners for them to be able to avail of the program.
Batol said, they already distributed flyers and tax bills; posted tarpaulins at strategic places; and activated their official Facebook page, and attend to queries and other concerns.
He added, the PTO has commissioned their deputy tax collectors in the different Local Government Units and the barangays to spread the information about the program.
