Lake Holon located in the municipality of T’boli and once awarded as one of the cleanest bodies of water in the country is now open to the public for trelliing and nature-tripping.
The opening was launched on March 12 (Saturday) spearheaded by the T’boli Tourism Office headed by Municipal Tourism Officer Rodel Hilado.
Hilado led the formal opening which was capped with cultural shows, “hugot” lines and syoty-telling about the history of Lake Holon. T’boli LGU only allowed a maximum capacity of 150 trekers for the launching.
The periphery of Lake Holon turned into tent city as hundreds of trekkers camped there despite the rainy weather brought about by the low pressure area or LPA that hit the country for the past few weeks.
Tourists did not only experienced the arduous 3 to 4-hour trek but likewise see the rich flora surrounding the mountain populated by indigenuous plants especially orchids and other colorful species of flowers.
Likewise, tourists experienced a ridge overlooking the lake, a scenic spot where most tourists took photos and post iit on their social media platform. Trekkers have the option to choose their trail, which is either on the traditional Salacafe Trail which is suggested to novice trekkers or the Koli trail for the more experienced climbers which offers a challenging steep ascent before the descent to the lake.
Lake Holon sits on top of Mt. Melingoy (also known as Mt. Parker), so trekkers actually experienced 2 tourist sites, climbing first Mt. Melibingoy before reaching Lake Holon, which served as the crater of the said inactive volcano..
Provincial government employees from the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit led by Francisco Cerbo jr. Marketing and Promotions chief, joined the launching trek to Lake Holon.
