Koronadal City– Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. prioritized the construction of potable water supply in far-flung areas that are still largely depend on wells and springs.
Engr. Eleazar Abellera, Project Evaluation Officer IV, said three water system will be turned to the recipient-barangays of Kablon (Tupi), New Dumangas and Salacafe (Tboli) this July and August, 2022.
“The level 2 water system is co-funded by the Embassy of Japan and the Provincial Government of South Cotabato through the Convergence Program,” Engr. Abellera announced during the Monday Convocation Ceremony.
The Embassy of Japan poured in P4.8M for the water system project in Barangay Kablon in Tupi.
In Tboli, the water system will cater eight sitios with 823 households.
In a previous interview with Engr. Frederick Soriano, Provincial Engineer Officer-In-Charge, said the governor prioritized the access of safe drinking water as a major request of barangay chairmen during his regular barangay visits.
“We have seven water system projects this year,” Soriano confirmed.
The construction of water system in Geographically Isolated Areas (GIDA) is encouraged by the Department of Interior and Local Government , calling on provincial governors, city/municipal mayors, and punong barangays to give priority to access to potable water supply, especially in water-less communities and far-flung areas now that they will have more budget for priority development projects with the Mandanas implementation, a statement from the official website of DILG added.
