A center dedicated to the rich B’laan culture and likewise a venue to showcase the unique tabih weaving of B’laan IPs was launched recently in Sitio Amguo, Barangay Lamdan.Polomolok by the Arts, Cultire, Tourism and Museum Unit (ACTMU).
Named Fu Yabing Weaving Center and B’laan Museum, the center was bullt in recognition to Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardee for Weaving the late Yabing Masalon Dulo who was buried in the area,
Bore her death, Fu Yabing as she was fondly called in her community, envisioned a weaving center to further promote tabih weaving. The center now houses 3 loom weaving equipment.
Numerous B’laan attire and accessories meanwhile are on display inside the museum,.
Reden Ulo, NCCA Commissioner for Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts said the center serves as a “living legacy” of the B’Laan culture and this makes South Cotabato known for, “the home of GAMABA awardees.”
Senior Tourism Operations Officer Argie Ryan Asaria, ACTMU chief assured ACTMU’s full support especially the needs of the center.
In attendance during the launching were Arthur “Jao” Gulili, grandson of Fu Yabing, Polomolok IPMR and cultural workers.
