From Recovery to Reintegration: 9th Batch Graduates from Balay Silangan

Koronadal City, South Cotabato — A total of 26 clients have formally graduated from the Balay Silangan Reformatory Center, marking the completion of the facility’s ninth batch of graduates since it was established by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato in 2019.

Of the 26 graduates, 18 were in-house clients, while the remaining eight were outpatients who qualified under the plea-bargaining agreement. All underwent a comprehensive six-month reformation program aimed at holistic rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.

The program included continuous education, skills and livelihood training, health and wellness initiatives, as well as psychological, spiritual, physical, and moral values formation activities.

The center’s efforts are made possible through strong inter-agency collaboration. Partner agencies include the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region XII, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), South Cotabato Parole and Probation Office, 27th Infantry Battalion, Philippine National Police, Department of Education, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, among others.

Balay Silangan offers free reformation programs to qualified residents of South Cotabato, under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., as part of the province’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and its commitment to rehabilitation and second chances.

The center is set to welcome its 10th batch of clients in June this year.
