South Cotabato, Philippines — As a vibrant part of the T’nalak Festival 2025 celebration, local farmers and fisherfolk will gather for a meaningful two-day event — the Farm Walk and Farmers Festival — happening on July 15–16, 2025, at the Provincial Nursery and Demonstration Farm in Banga. This event is spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) in collaboration with the Provincial Veterinary Office and other partner agencies.
On the first day, July 15, will highlight the much-awaited “Pinakamabigat, Pinakamahaba, kag Pinakanamit Contest,” where a wide array of agricultural products from participating LGUs will take center stage. Entries will include the heaviest fruits and vegetables such as bananas, jackfruit, corn, coconut, cassava, squash, and fish varieties like tilapia and catfish. Also featured will be the longest samples of string beans, eggplant, cucumber, bottle gourd, sponge gourd, and bitter gourd.
In addition, the Provincial Veterinary Office will host contests to determine the heaviest egg, goat, chicken, and rabbit, showcasing the steady growth of the province’s livestock and poultry industries.
Meanwhile, culinary talents will shine in the “Pinakanamit” Cooking Contest, where participants will craft flavorful dishes with tilapia as the main ingredient — a prized local product and culinary highlight of South Cotabato.
On the second day, July 16, guests will take part in the Farm Walk, a guided tour around the Demonstration Farm. Participants will move through different stations presenting modern technologies, sustainable farming methods, organic practices, and various innovations currently being implemented in agriculture.
The day will also feature a vegetable showcase from different agribusiness companies, interactive games, and raffle draws for all attendees.
The Farm Walk and Farmers Festival reflect the continued commitment of the Provincial Government to support and empower the agricultural community. Through this event, South Cotabato aims to promote a more progressive, resilient, and modern livelihood for its farmers and residents.
