KORONADAL CITY — With grace, elegance, and a heart full of pride for her roots, Mary S. Ganaba of the Municipality of Tupi was crowned Mutya ng South Cotabato 2025 during the pageant’s grand coronation night, one of the most awaited highlights of this year’s T’nalak Festival.
Ganaba captivated the judges and the crowd with her poise, intelligence, and strong sense of cultural identity, which earned her the title of this year’s queen. Representing the vibrant municipality of Tupi, she stood out in every phase of the competition and now carries the honor of being an ambassador of South Cotabato’s beauty and culture. When asked what part of her South Cotabateña character she hopes the world would reflect if the Mutya ng South Cotabato title were a mirror, Ganaba’s response was heartfelt and profound.
“You see, I am a woman of many roles. Sometimes, I am a volunteer; sometimes, at home, I am an Ate, but the biggest role that I take to heart is being a leader… I hope South Cotabato and the whole world can see a queen servant,” Ganaba said.
Ganaba also emphasized that her motivation for joining the pageant was not to seek the crown, but to answer a deeper calling for public service.
“I am ready to work with the government and with you, South Cotabateños, in working towards economic growth with integrity and vibrancy,” she added.
Joining her on the top were Joanna Marie Ubas of TG Group of Companies, who was the first runner-up and also awarded the People’s Choice Award, and Jirah Shammeh N. Bantas of JLS Construction, who claimed second runner-up.
Bantas bagged various minor awards– Best in T’nalak Couture, Best in Swimsuit, and Best in Evening Gown. The pageant also recognized exceptional individuals through a series of special and minor awards. Erich Grace Exim of Tantangan was named Miss Photogenic, while Mariah Miguel Cruz of Sto. Niño earned the title of Miss Congeniality for her friendly and warm personality backstage. Kate Ann Donguines of IVT Events received the Miss Green Cross Daily Care 2025 title for her natural charm and wholesome appeal. The Best in Tourism Video category celebrated creativity and storytelling, with commendations going to Nathania Shane P. Cortes (Tboli), Erich Grace Exim (Tantangan), and Mary S. Ganaba (Tupi), whose entries beautifully showcased the culture and scenic spots of their respective communities.
The Best Designer Award was given to Ken Delo Santos of Sto. Niño, whose work highlighted the rich fabric of South Cotabato’s heritage through modern design. Meanwhile, Duane Ile A. Dondoyano of the Mindanao Institute of Sustainable Technologies, Inc., stood out during the Q&A portion, earning the Best in Interview award for her confidence and insightful answers. More than just a beauty competition, Mutya ng South Cotabato continues to be a platform for empowering young South Cotabateñas, highlighting their intelligence, advocacy, and passion for their hometowns.
With her new crown, Mary Ganaba will begin her meaningful journey, representing the province and inspiring others to celebrate identity, purpose, and pride in being part of South Cotabato. As the cheers settle and the spotlight dims, this year’s pageant leaves behind not just a new queen but a renewed sense of unity and celebration among the people of South Cotabato.
