Koronadal City-In a significant boost to local employment, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) rolled out its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program across 27 barangays in Koronadal City.

This initiative aims to provide temporary livelihood opportunities to workers who have been displaced, unemployed, or affected by the economic downturn. Hundreds of residents from various barangays received financial assistance after completing short-term community-based jobs, including public sanitation, road maintenance, and environmental clean-up activities. The release of TUPAD funds was a coordinated effort between DOLE and the provincial government of south cotabato, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the community were prioritized.

“Sa subong ara kamo diri kag gipili kamo individually nga mahatagan sini nga programa, Ini dako nga bulig para sainyo kag para maka umpisa kamo sang inyo gamay nga negosyo” Gov. Tamayo said.

With the release of TUPAD assistance to  27 barangays, the provincial government of South Cotabato, in collaboration with DOLE, plans to expand the program in the future, ensuring that more residents will be able to benefit from temporary employment opportunities. Governor Tamayo encouraged beneficiaries to be proactive in seeking other opportunities for growth.

“Temporaryo lang ini para maka hatag sa inyo sang suporta para maka bulig sa inyo nga mga pamilya kag kung tani mapalago niyo pa ini kung gusto niyo mag umpisa sang inyo nga mga negosyo.” he said.

The TUPAD program has shown that even short-term employment can provide immediate financial relief while empowering individuals to contribute to their communities. As Koronadal City continues to recover from the economic effects of the pandemic, initiatives like TUPAD will remain crucial in supporting the livelihoods of its people.

The TUPAD program continues to serve as a vital resource for workers across South Cotabato, providing not only financial relief but also hope and opportunity for a better tomorrow.
