Friendly drug store turns over P2.2M PPP share to South Cotabato

Koronadal City—The friendly drug Health Plus Shop-in-a Shop (HPSis) turned over P2. 2M to the Provincial Government of South Cotabato as part of the Private-Public Partnership program designed to complement the hospital pharmacy in addressing the drugs, medicines and supplies shortage in government-run hospitals in South Cotabato.

HPSis  is implemented in South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, Norala District Hospital and Polomolok Hospital.

Liza Jora, Mahintana Foundation (MFI) Executive Director, said the foundation shared at least P12. 505M to the Provincial Government of South Cotabato in the last 13 years, using the approved profit sharing scheme (70% to SCPH, 30% to MFI).

Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. received the checks amounting to P1.8M from the HPSis in the Provincial Hospital, P450, 000 in Norala District Hospital and P22, 000 in Polomolok Municipal Hospital.

The friendly drug store provides an avenue to government hospitals to upgrade its facilities and comply with the requirements of hospital licensing agencies through procurement of facilities, materials and other equipment.

Hora said the project helped indigent patients to cut down their out-of-pocket expenses due to problems on high cost and unavailability of medicines since 2009.

HPSiS helped rationalise the prices of drugs and medicines of private-owned pharmacies within the vicinity of the hospital. Further, HPSiS contributed to the popularisation and implementation of the Generics Law.

“Despite the pandemic, this is the highest government share we have turned over,” Hora revealed.

Mahintana Foundation, Inc expressed their commitment to support health services to the province of South Cotabato, Hora added.

In 2015, the partnership won Galing Pook Award. The Interior and Local Government recognised the government-public sector arrangement as one of the outstanding innovative health service delivery representing CSOs and government sectors.
