Gov DAF issues temporary stoppage order to SSM operators

Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes issued a Temporary Stoppage Order (TSO) to 12 Small-Scale Mining (SSM) permittees effective August 14 due to the occurrence of landslide at Sitio Tunnel, Kematu, T’boli last July 18.

A Site Investigative Report conducted earlier by a joint team composed of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-MGB), Provincial Environment Management office (PEMO) and Municipal Environment and Natural resources Office (MENRO) at the affected landslide areas prompted the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) to recommend for the said action.

The Governor directed the concerned SSM operators to temporarily cease and stop mining activities in the landslide and affected areas until such time that they submit an Emergency Response and Preparedness Plan.

Likewise, a recommendation from the PMRB that the area is safe to operate for SSM activities was required in the TSO issued, prior for the request for re-opening.

The 12 SSM operators were Michelle/Jorito Balonga (Ling-Lin Tunnel), Isagane Gane (UG Tunnel), Esther Gane (Maligaya Tunnel), Beverly Maguan (Yana Tunnel), Jaime Degorio (GMD Tunnel), Amado Martinez (Jack Pot Tunnel), Grace Maguan (Maguan Tunnel), Jesus Casensia (New Open Tunnel), Rino Adilan (Dyesebel Tunnel), Lito Huela (Scud Tunnel), Shiela Lanado (Lanado Tunnel) and Alcaba Adel (Abel Tunnel).
