CITY OF KORONADAL — With the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until April 30 in South Cotabato, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. disclosed that the third wave of distribution will include fresh vegetables for the beneficiaries.
Governor Tamayo made the assurance during the CoViD-19 Update Press Conference held at the Provincial Information Office here early today.
Del onte, a canning fruit giant based in Cagayan de Oro City, offered the province for the use its 1-hectare (10,000 sq.) cold storage facility located in Apopong, General Santos City for the fresh vegetables.
A team, according to the Governor, was already organized to take charge of the procurement of the vegetables. Procurement of fresh vegetables, Tamayo pointed out, will be of great help to the farmers in terms of earnings.
Meanwhile, Tamayo said LGUs have stopped temporarily their rice procurement to give way for the province to complete its own procurement for the third wave of distribution. “Some LGUs have not yet even finished the first wave of distribution,” he added.
The Governor likewise informed the public that 50% of the 1-month Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of the province will be downloaded soon by the national government to be used for the CoVid-19 pandemic.
