Governor orders suspension of quarry operation

CITY OF KORONADAL — Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes ordered the issuance of temporary suspension on the quarry operation of an operator within the Namnama/Caloocan Communal Quarry Area due to a complaint filed by residents near the area.

Landowners within the adjacent area of the quarry operation of quarry operator Lorenzo Forro alleged that it caused river scouring and erosion and likewise claimed that they were not consulted prior to the issuance of a Resolution Interposing No Objection by the Barangay.

Upon verification by the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) on the social acceptability issues of the quarry operation, the board recommended the temporary suspension of the quarry operation.

Forro was likewise required by PMRB-TWG to submit a Resolution Interposing No Objection from both barangays and likewise ensure that the complainants are invited during the public hearing.

Namnama Barangay Captain Alfredo Sotelo, Caloocan Barangay Captain Eric Domingo and quarry operator Lorenzo received the order on August 12.
