South Cotabato, Philippines – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato spearheaded the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Inter-Agency Convergence to institutionalizing the implementation of the Provincial Commodity Investment Plan (PCIP) of Abaca and Tilapia in the province.
The MOA signing was attended by partner government agencies such as the Department of Agriculture Region XII (DA XII), the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources XII (BFAR XII), and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority XII (PhilFIDA XII).
These agencies formalized their commitments through the signed agreement, witnessed by representatives and beneficiaries from various municipalities and cities within the province. It was noted that over 30 cooperatives and associations will benefit from the Good Agricultural Practices Training on Abaca Farming and the Training on Pond-based Tilapia Grow-out Production and Intensive Tilapia Hatchery Production, which were funded with a total of nine million pesos.
Atty. Renette Bergado, Provincial Cooperative and Development Officer and Acting Provincial Administrator, shared her gratefulness and aspirations for this partnership.
“This initiative will significantly contribution to the development of agriculture and livelihood opportunities for farmers in the province, as well as, to showcase our rich culture to the world,” Bergado pointed.
The program is expected to be productive and progressive, and it is expected that it will attract more support from other agencies to further strengthen the province’s agriculture sector.
