In recognition of the vital role parents play in influencing their children’s futures, the Office of the Provincial Population Officer (OPPO) organized a Parent Education on Adolescent Health and Development (PEAHD) Seminar in collaboration with the Tampakan Local Government.
Barangay Population Volunteers and Program Partners participated in the two-day program to give them the information and abilities they need to counsel teenagers on sexuality, reproductive health, and making responsible decisions. This program is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to encourage responsible parenting in local communities and reduce the rising prevalence of adolescent pregnancies.
The resource speakers shared vital information about the development of adolescents, the consequences of early pregnancies, and the importance of open communication between parents and their children. OPPO members emphasized the significance of boosting parental involvement in order to guarantee a younger generation that is healthier and more informed.
In addition to educating parents, the PEAHD seminar seeks to establish a network of community advocates who will carry on raising awareness of adolescent health and responsible family planning. In order to ensure that more families receive the information from the seminar, the participating Barangay Population Volunteers are expected to act as mentors and resource people in their local communities.
Through programs like the PEAHD seminar, OPPO keeps highlighting the fact that people are still at the center of progress and that stronger, more responsible society results from empowered parents.
