The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) will purchase ten (10) shredders and plastic densifiers to further strengthen the implementation of Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
PEMO Senior Environment Management Specialist Elbe Balucanag disclosed that the shredders and plastic densifiers will be distributed among the province’s ten component local government units (LGUs).
“We aim to boost the compliance of these LGUs particularly on recycling to reduce end of pipe waste that will result to the extension of life of sanitary landfills,” Balucanag pointed out during an interview.
The ten shredders and plastic densifiers cost a total of P 3 million of which the source of fund comes from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office – Investment Plan Trust Fund.
“Aside from the purchase, PEMO will also conduct training on the Operation and Maintenance of the equipment,” Balucanag added.
PEMO expects the delivery of the equipment in the last quarter of the year.
