PVET launches anti-rabies vaccination program to build a safer, healthier community

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVet) of South Cotabato recently started its Anti-Rabies Vaccination Program in Banga, marking an essential step in the province’s continuous efforts to combat rabies and a step towards building a safer, healthier community.

Several barangays in Banga, including Kusan, Cabudian, Rizal, Punong Grande, Malaya, Rang-ay, Lampari, Lambingi, Derilon, and Lam-afus, recently started vaccination initiatives.

Dr. Errol B. Javier, head of PVO’s Animal Health and Regulatory Division, said PVet offers free anti-rabies vaccinations to pet owners, especially people who own dogs. Pet owners can send their dogs to the Office of Municipal Agriculture for vaccinations if their animals are three to four months old or older.

“Rabies are entirely preventable, and we are working to reduce its incidence through this program,” Dr. Javier shared.

The initiative is an essential part of a broader effort to reduce the number of rabies cases and eventually declare South Cotabato a “rabies-free” province. As part of an overall effort to safeguard people and animals from fatal diseases, vaccinations are essential for maintaining public health.

“Keeping South Cotabato a safer location for both people and animals is our primary objective,” Javier stressed.

This continuous vaccination effort demonstrates the province’s dedication to the health and safety of its citizens. To reach more communities and offer pet owners the chance to vaccinate their animals for free, the PVO informs the public that vaccination drives will continue in the upcoming weeks.

Additionally, Dr. Javier encouraged the public to take part in safeguarding their communities and pets.

“Vaccinating your pets is important for the safety of your community and your family, not simply for their health. He added that we can keep everyone safe and help stop the spread of rabies by ensuring our dogs are vaccinated,” he added.

The Anti-Rabies Vaccination Program is one of several larger programs to enhance the general health and security of people living in South Cotabato. Through these initiatives, the province hopes to create a safer, healthier environment for everyone by eradicating the threat of rabies.
