Reaching Out to Remote Communities: South Cotabato’s Commitment to GIDA Services

After a grueling four to six-hour trek, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through the Provincial Population Office (PPO), successfully reached the remote sitios of Syombolol, Tahikong, and Blo. These sitios are among the farthest flung areas of barangay Salacafe in Tboli. This historic journey aimed to deliver crucial services and information to the residents of these sitios, which have a combined population of approximately 500 people.

The PPO brought essential services, including orientations on RA 11596 (Anti-Child Marriage Law), life skills training for adolescents, responsible parenthood and family planning, health education for the youth, and awareness on violence against women and their children. These sessions were attended by sitio leaders, parents, and youths from the respective sitios. The primary goal of this initiative was to provide vital information and support to remote communities that often struggle to access public services.

Accompanying the PPO were various partner agencies, including the Special Forces of the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police, the Municipal Health Office of Tboli, the BLGU Salacafe, and the Tribal Leaders Development Foundation Incorporated. Their collaborative efforts ensured the successful delivery of services and highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation in reaching underserved areas.

The Provincial Government of South Cotabato remains steadfast in its commitment to reaching out to remote areas and providing essential services for the well-being of all its residents.
