South Cotabato, Philippines—Joy and gratitude filled the heart of Rosemarie Min, a mother of three from Sitio Lamsine, Barangay Sinolon, Tboli, South Cotabato, after becoming one of the recipients of Responsable nga PagSagop kag PagTatap sa Nutrisyon (RST sa Nutrisyon).
Rosemarie, a housewife, and her husband, a farmer, shared how the program greatly improved their family’s well-being, especially their child, who was previously classified as severely malnourished. Through the Home Visitation and Survey, beneficiaries received help to achieve a healthier and more stable weight.
“Ang ini nga programa dako na ini nga bulig sa amon,“ Rosemarie stated.
“The supplemental feeding makes my child stronger and healthier,” Rosemarie shared.
“We are truly thankful to Gov. Tamayo, to the Provincial Government, and everyone in the Nutrition Office for reaching our remote community and extending their support,” she expressed.
The program aims to combat malnutrition in far-flung areas through responsible caregiving, regular monitoring, and direct intervention specifically to identify severely malnourished children.
There are 44 beneficiaries of RST sa Nutrisyon this year. In the last five years, the program saved almost 200 severely malnourished children in South Cotabato. They are now living a healthier life in the primary school.
RST sa Nutrisyon provided supplementary feeding to beneficiaries and livelihood assistance to the families. The provincial government provided health services if necessary. Vegetable seeds were also distributed to families to ensure food sufficiency at home.
She also acknowledged the efforts of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), the local government units, and the Nutrition Force of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, who work together to deliver these services.
“My message is simple: when we act responsibly and support one another, we can fight malnutrition and build a healthier future for our children,” Governor Tamayo stated in one of his interviews.
Through continuous public service and compassion, Governor Tamayo proves his sincere commitment to the health and welfare of the people of South Cotabato.
