South Cotabato conducts weighing scale calibration, releases BNS allowances

South Cotabato, Philippines—To ensure accurate child nutrition monitoring, the Nutrition Section of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) conducted its annual calibration of weighing scales in every town of South Cotabato. This initiative aims to guarantee the reliability of weight measurements used by Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in assessing the nutritional status of children in their communities.

At the same time, the Nutrition Section facilitated the release of the national allowance for BNS, recognizing their vital role in grassroots health and nutrition programs.

Myrna Pelayo, a BNS from Barangay Puti, Norala, expressed her joy in receiving financial support for their work.

“I am very happy that we have reached our national honorarium. Next week, we heard, the province will distribute our provincial allowance,” she said.

Pelayo also hopes that more support will be given to nutrition scholars in the future.

Further strengthening their commitment to community nutrition, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato is set to release the honorarium of BNS this February, ensuring that these dedicated workers receive the compensation they deserve.

Through these efforts, South Cotabato continues to prioritize public health by equipping and supporting its frontliners in nutrition services.
