Koronadal City—The Provincial Nutrition Council of South Cotabato suggests to the public to cook nutritious foods in this Covid time.
Rudy Jiminea, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, recommends eating healthy food to boost immune system after Corona Virus attack manifests flu-like symptoms.
“Healthy foods need not be expensive,” Jiminea says during a press conference recently. He points out backyard vegetables as major ingredients in family meals.
Jiminea explains that there are many ways in cooking canned sardines to ensure that it is nutritious.
Canned sardines is one of the most common food items included in the distribution packs delivered by local government units during this Corona Virus pandemic.
“You can mix malunggay leaves in cooking sardines or you can make squash-sardines omelet,” Jiminea stresses out.
He reminds the public that backyard garden vegetables are the best food ingredients all the time because it is safe, fresh and cheap.
The National Nutrition Council (NNC)in the Philippines releases an advisory to all mayors and governors to promote proper nutrition , emphasizing on eating variety of food consistent to 10 Kumainments.
“This is a natural way to strengthen immune system against COVID virus,” the council advisory explains.
The advisory also emphasizes that family food packs should contain “age and culturally sensitive items.”
NNC urges local chief executives to include fortified canned items that are packed with iron, Vit. A and iodine in the family packs.
