SouthCot visitors nears 1 million mark

Tourist arrival in South Cotabato is  nearing the 1 million  mark, this as the Arts, Culture, Touriism & Museum (ACTM) Unit reported that tourist rrivals rom January to September this year already reached 928,996

Richie Matunding, ACTM Program Assistant disclosed that the first 9-month total for 2021 is a far cry from last year’s 9-month total of only 221,823. The province’s tourist arrivals in 2020 totaled 400,511.

The summer months of April and March are the visitors favorite time of the year with 177,906 and 166,728 arrivals, respectively, followed by February at 146,325 and January at 121,654.

The rest of the months are as follows; May registered 63,217, june – 36,270; July – 56,234; August – 94,803 and  September – 53,859.

Lake Sebu, the eco-cultural capital of South Cotabato is still the top tourist destination with arrivals numbering at 95,95,610, followed by Norala at 33,191, Tupi – 26,836; Sto. Nino -15,931, City of Koronadal – 12,405; Tboli – 11,179; Banga – 11,109; Surallah – 6.,999; Tantanga –  1,840; Tampakan- 1,284; Polomolok – 503.

With the present trend, ACTM expects to reach the pre-pandemic record of 1.3 million tourist arrivals in 2019,
