South Cotabato, Philippines – Two young farmers from South Cotabato have recently brought pride to the province, earning recognition at the Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan (YFFTPJ) Batch 2024 Business Pitching Event. Angel Tobongbanua from the Municipality of Banga and Bellie Lok from the Municipality of Surallah were among the 23 participants who stood out in the competition.
Tobongbanua and Lok were selected for their agribusiness proposals entitled “Bellie Banana Lakatan Enterprise” and “FARMACY (Grafted Vegetables)”, where both received financial assistance worth Php 150,000.00 to support their respective projects. Their achievement highlights the growing presence and potential of young Filipino leaders in the agricultural sector on a global stage.
The Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan (YFFLTPJ) is a partnership between the Department of Agriculture, and the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC). It aims to develop deserving young Filipino farmers preferably 4-H Club members to become leaders and empowered agricultural entrepreneurs.
Tobongbanua and Lok expressed their gratitude to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of South Cotabato:

Their success serves as an inspiration for other young individuals in the province who are interested in pursuing agriculture as a career.
