Tnalak festival takes center stage in July

The Tnalak fest held every month of July in South Cotabato will be celebrated face-to-face after two years of being celebrated virtually as the province was categorized under Alert Level 1.

Based on the   Inter-Agency Task Force  (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, under the Alert Level 1,  there will be no restrictions in terms of indoor and outdoor capacities. Executive Committee Chairperson Atty. Renette Bergado welcomes everyone to come and witness this event, considered one of the most colorful and grand festivities in Region 12.

She also lauded every South Cotabatenos for the cooperation they have displayed in the fight against the pandemic.

Bergado said disclosed that despite the opening of the festival to the crowd, not all events were included during the festival which will take only for 5 days.

The Tnalak Streetdancing parade and showdown which is supposedly the highlight of the festivity on July 18, the day of the 56th Foundation  Anniversary and the 23rd Tnalak Festival will not yet be witnessed this year.

Bergado said that the participants for the street dancing came from schools and it is hard to form a  contingent since face-to-face encounter is not yet fully implemented.

However, events such as Bahay-Kubo, Plant Fair, and Product Display; Farm walk and  Farmers’ Festival and Pinaka Contest; Regional Trade and  Tourism Expo;  Food Garden Festival, Hip-hop Competition, and Mutya ng South Cotabato are included during the five-day festivity.

Based on its calendar of events, the  Interfaith  Thanksgiving celebration and the opening program will be held simultaneously on July 14 in the morning and fireworks display in the evening at the South Cotabato Sports Complex (SCSC).

Instead of the Thematic parade before the opening program, a showdown will be held inside the  SCSC.

New events this year is the Governor’s Night: Recognition Awards Night.

Other sports events include the Inter-LGU Basketball Competition Championship,  Inter-LGU Volleyball Competition Championship, 1st Aeromarathon Competition, 1st RST Tnalak MTB Enduro Challenge, Motocross Competition, and the  1st RST Tnalak XC Challenge.

Other activities will also include Mini-Concert and Rock-Rakan sa Tnalak.

On July 18, the Anniversary Program will be highlighted with a Dance Competition instead of the Tnalak Streetdance and showdown.

This year’s theme is: “ Weaving our Dreams Into Reality.”
