CITY OF KORONADAL — The Department of Health (OH) 12 is preparing for the conduct of the Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio (SPKP) Round 3 Oral Polio Vaccination (OPV) this coming July 20 – August 2 with the conduct of 2-day Micro-Planning of OPV Synchronized Mass Immunization Activity here at Paraiso Verde Resort recently.
DOH 12 Regional Director Dr. Aristides Concepcion Tan disclosed in his message during the planning conference that the target in the 14-day SPKP Round 3 is still 95% just like the previous rounds of the SPKP.
Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Alah Baby Vingno of the South Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) meanwhile said that “challenge is accepted” as a reply to Dr. Tan’s performance target set for all C/MHOs in SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
But she was quick to reiterate the lack of manpower resources due to the on-going CoViD Pandemic, repatriation of ROFs and LSIs and implementation of other regular health programs.
With the on-going CoViD-19 Pandemic, the mass OPV will adhere to minimum health standards with the mandatory wearing of face shield and face mask of health workers that will conduct house-to-house campaign.
For those employed in fixed post, mandatory guidelines include proper disinfection of the area that must be well-ventilated and the provision of enough space so that 1-meter social distancing is complied with.
With inclement weather being experienced nowadays brought about by the rainy season, DOH 12 also promised to provide umbrellas to health workers and advised them to boost their immune system by eating nutritious food and getting enough sleep daily in preparation for the forthcoming activity.
SPKP round 3 will employ the Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccine (Types 1 & 3) during the campaign.
