South Cotabato, Philippines — In commemoration of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children, the Philippines celebrates National Children’s Month, seeking to instill its significance in the Filipino consciousness and to strengthen the protection and promotion of children’s rights.
In support of this cause, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. expressed his commitment to the rights and welfare of children, stating that the youth represent hope for continued progress and development in the province.
In line with the National Children’s Month celebration, South Cotabato will host its State of the Children’s Address (SOCHA) on November 12, 2024, at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center. This event will highlight the value of children in society and recognize their rights.
The SOCHA will focus on the province’s initiatives that support children’s rights, including survival, protection, participation, education, development, and health and nutrition. It will also discuss both accomplished and proposed programs aimed at safeguarding the welfare of children and ensuring their rights to safety and well-being.
With the theme “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,” South Cotabato aims to highlight the worth of children by fostering a safe, supportive environment for them.
Under the leadership of Governor Tamayo, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato remains committed in its oath to uphold and protect the rights of every child in the province by creating a safe and healthy community for the next generation.
