Women’s association in Lake Sebu reaps benefits from provincial livelihood program

LAKE SEBU, SOUTH COTABATO- The South Cotabato Provincial Government’s livelihood assistance, through the Convergence Approach for Transformation and Change – Unification Program (CATCH-UP), has provided significant support to the women’s association in Lake Sebu.

Jeneth Bongon, president of the Unity of Women in Sitio Lake Lahit, shared how the establishment of a Sari-Sari store in their community has made a big difference. In the past, residents had to travel long distances to buy essential goods such as rice, coffee, seasonings, delicacies, cooking oil, and other items.

Thanks to the CATCH-UP program, the availability of these goods has become more convenient for the residents, as they can now purchase them right in the heart of their community.

Bongon expressed her gratitude to Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., noting that the initiative has not only benefited a few individuals but has also brought positive change to the majority of residents in the area.

“We look up to Governor Tamayo; his service is truly exemplary and effective,” Bongon said.

At present, the association consists of 48 members, all of whom are married women.

This program exemplifies the provincial government’s commitment to improving the lives of its constituents, particularly women, and empowering them through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
