Don’t touch MEN, says PHO to avoid CoVid-19

CITY OF KORONADAL — Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Rogelio Aturdido Jr. confirmed during the Monday Regular Convocation at the Provincial Capitol, this city that the first case of the Novel Corona Virus (NCOV) but now officially coined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as CoViD-19, in the country was detected in Metro Manila.

As a precautionary measure, Dr. Aturdido said “not to touch the MEN”, which is short for Mouth, Eyes and Nose of any individual since this could cause the spread of the virus.

Aside from this, Aturdido reminded everyone to maintain 1-meter distance when talking to anyone especially strangers, always wash hands regularly with soap and water or 70% Isopropyl alcohol and likewise avoid shaking hands and crowded places.

He also urged the public to be vigilant and inform anyone who just arrived from abroad to report to the barangay captain, midwife or any health station in their area to have their check-up for possible contamination of CoVID-19.

He assured that health authorities are on top of the situation, but still discourages the wearing of surgical face mask except those who are sick since South Cotabato is still CoVid-19-free.”

The Integrated Provincial health Office and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office are planning to meet jointly to map out strategies regarding the CoViD-19 contagion.
