Tampakan, South Cotabato – The Community Development Information Council (CDIC) Tampakan Incorporated celebrated its 32nd Foundation Anniversary on January 29, 2021 at the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, Municipality of Tampakan, South Cotabato.
With the theme “CDIC sa Saktong Impormasyon, Kalinaw Maangkon,” the event was attended by South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., Tampakan Municipal Police Station Chief of Police PMAJ Ramil B. Aruelo, CDIC Chairperson and San Vicente National High School Principal II Mr. Alconde G. Torrejos, Sangguniang Bayan members, and media personalities.
The CDIC is a policy-making advisory body that responds to the information needs of the people in the Municipality of Tampakan. It was organized in 1989 during the administration of the former mayor, Roberto Y. Barroso, Jr. through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tampakan and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
During the younger years of the CDIC, it was given citations because of its active participation in the field of information. On April 18, 2007, CDIC was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in its desire to acquire a juridical identification. It has various programs and activities such as the regular monthly meetings, book-giving, career guidance advocacy, forum on mining, CDIC as a catalyst of NGOs, responsible journalism, values formation, developmental communication, and many more.
“Napakaganda ng council na meron kayo ngayon dito. Kung titingnan ninyo, na-project na ninyo 32 years ago na marami ang lalabas na fake news at isa yan sa mga direksyon na meron kayo, dahil nga isa rin sa mga binabantayan ninyo ay ang minahan. Sa minahan, maraming mga negative at positive views, maraming tama at hindi tamang impormasyon, both sides, kaya kinakailangang itong council na ito ay maging responsable para iparating at i-advocate na ang dapat ipalabas na mga balita ay dapat yung tama at saktong impormasyon lamang,” Governor Tamayo stated.
“Yung tema ninyo ay tamang-tama sa panahon ngayon. Sa saktong impormasyon, kalinaw maangkon. Alam ninyo, pagpasok pa lang nitong January, mayroon nang election fever. Panahon na ng eleksyon, dahil by October, filing of candidacy na. Lumalabas na yung mga fake news, yung mga one-sided media, dahan-dahan na silang lumalabas,” he added.
“Dahil sa maling impormasyon, naiiba yung direksyon ng mga tao, nawawala yung trust and confidence ng mga tao sa ganitong personalities. Dapat tamang impormasyon lang, kasi kapag nakakasira na ng tao, walang problema kung ako lang, sirain ako, wala naman akong problema dun. Pero yung direksyon na meron tayo, nawawala,” the governor uttered.
“Nais ko lamang iparating sa inyo, kayo na nasa Community Development Information Council, ang tamang impormasyon ay nagreresulta sa napakagandang community development. Progress or kaunlaran ang magiging resulta kapag mayroong tama at saktong impormasyon,” he finally said.
