To further enhance its jewelry-making project in the municipality of T’boli, the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) will sponsor a capacity-building cum exposure trip for the recipients of their project this year.
Nencita Acain, PEMO Mines and Geo-Sciences Division chief disclosed during the weekly Kapehan sa Kapitolyo of the Provincial Information Office, that their office plans to bring the project beneficiaries to a jewelry-making factory in Bulacan, dubbed as the country’s jewelry-making capital.
Their office, Acain added, has allotted P200,000.00 for the trip, not including other fund support that they may avail from T’boli LGU and other partners.
Earlier, PEMO conducted series of trainings in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and partner Tribal Mining Corporation (TMC), which donated 1 kilogram of silver for the training.
The twenty-eight (28) trainees have now formed a group called the T’boli Jewelers Association with their domicile located at Poblacion, T’boli.
Further to their exposure trip, PEMO also plans to buy a polisher machine and construct a showroom for potential buyers to see the finished products of the group such as necklace, bracelet, ring, anklet, earrings, among others.
“We plan to produce jewelries that will not only compete in the domestic but also in the global market as well,” Acain explained.
