As part of its Lake Easement Beautification Project, the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) will launch simultaneously on September – 16 this year, the Search for Cleanest and Greenest Household and Search for Best Maintained Lake Easement Area in Lake Sebu.
Loida S. Villa, PEMO Senior Environment Management Specialist and Point Person of the annual search disclosed that for the Cleanest and Greenest Household category, 28 households will join while the top 15 winners of last year’s contest will be the contestants for the Best Maintained Lake Easement Area.
Contestants will undergo series of evaluations and elimination process as part of the contest mechanics. The first evaluation on September 14 -16 with an initial 28 contestants will be reduced to 15 and evaluated for the second time on October 12 – 14. The top 10 winners meanwhile will be chosen among the top 15 during the third and final evaluation scheduled on November 16 – 18.
Cash incentives will be given to the top 5 winners as well as consolation prize winners during the 3 evaluations. The final awarding of winners will be on November 28 during the Monday Convocation Program of Lake Sebu LGU.
Criteria of the contest are as follows: Greening, Gardening and Landscaping (60%) is divided into Best Flower/Ornamental Garden -30% and Best Vegetable Garden – 30%; Cleanliness and Orderliness – 40%.
Evaluators of the search are representatives from the Provincial Information Office, Provincial Tourism Office, Department of Interior and Local Government Provincial Office, Lake Sebu Tourism Office and DENR-PASu-AVPL.
