South Cotabato, Philippines—The T’nalak Festival will feature the National Open Hiphop Competition, scheduled for July 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Centre. Committee Chair Raynela D. Cabangal shared that this competition will showcase impressive hip-hop talent from across the Philippines.
“We have 15 competing teams from all over the Philippines, from Luzon, all over Mindanao, Surigao, Bukidnon, Kidapawan, Davao City, Dinagat Island, Cotabato, Iligan, and South Cotabato,” Reynel Cabangal said during the interview over Tnalak TV.
There is no funding provided for the teams, but the provincial government will cover accommodations and offer complimentary meals during the event. Teams, however, are responsible for their travel expenses. Prizes include a total of 100,000 pesos in trophies and cash for the champion, 70,000 pesos for the first runner-up, 40,000 pesos for second place, and consolation prizes of 6,000 pesos each.
“Wala kita sang Seed Money pero may ara kita sang Consolation. May libre nga lunch during sa event, ang accommodation sini courtesy man sa Provincial Government, ang transpo nila ila na nga fund,” Cabangal added.
The competition received almost 80 entries, with teams selected after submitting dance videos for screening. The judges from Manila will remain unnamed until the event to maintain impartiality. Cabangal also stressed that the contest strictly discourages any unfair treatment of participants.
Surprises await in the competition. Details soon.
