PDEA 12 Conducts Ceremonial Burning of P2.6M Marijuana

Tampakan, South Cotabato – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XII spearheaded the Ceremonial Burning of the Php2.6Million-Worth of Marijuana Plants on January 28, 2021, at the Municipal Ground of Tampakan, South Cotabato.

The operation was an offshoot of a report from a concerned citizen that a marijuana plantation existed and was cultivated in Sitio Bong Sbang, Brgy. Danlag, Tampakan, South Cotabato.

Thirty thousand square meters (30,000 m2) which yielded the seizure of thirteen thousand (13,000) hills of fully-grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of Php2.6Million were uprooted on January 14, 2021, at around 1:00 in the morning by PDEA South Cotabato, South Cotabato Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Office, Tampakan Municipal Police Station, and other members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) South Cotabato.

The operation, according to PDEA 12, is considered as “another successful anti-illegal drug operation involving marijuana plantation” in relation to the intensified campaign of the government against illegal drugs.

The ceremonial burning was attended by PDEA 12 Regional Director Naravy D. Duquiatan, PNP XII Regional Director PBGen. Michael John F. Dubria, PDEA 12 Deputy Regional Director Atty. Francis Del Valle, South Cotabato Provincial Prosecutor Atty. Joseph Boyd A. Atensor, Executive Assistant to Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. Mr. Rudy S. Jimenea, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Marnito B. Cosep, media personalities, and members of the PNP 12 and PDEA 12.
